Precious.

Praise God!
Deuteronomy 10:21  "He is your praise; he is your God, who has done for you those great and awesome things that your own eyes have seen."

happy travels!

I opened my eyes and realised I was just in my bedroom (sheesh).  My dream was so vivid I thought I was still in Barcelona with my sister planning our day out.  It took me a few breaths before I could accept that I was back to reality!

It is such a blessing to be able to travel.  I've been to many beautiful places in my home country Philippines as well as in my second home Australia.  I've also been to heaps of wonderful places in Asia and Europe.  It is so amazing to see many different places, experience their cultures and try various cuisines.  It is also fun trying to speak their language and figuring out which train or bus goes to which location (haha)!

It has always been my dream to travel.  So once I got into traveling, the bug has never left me since.  I love the exhilarating feeling when I'm in the airport, all the more when I finally arrive at the destination.  Planning what to wear plus packing and unpacking are the parts I'm not much of a fan of though, but I always miraculously manage to make it work somehow (haha ü).

It is also a real bonus to have people around (family, partner and friends) who I'm able to travel with since I'm definitely not a solo traveler!  I just love the experience of being able to share adventures with someone, exploring things together and getting lost in mazes together (hehe)!

Long story short, all I wanted to say is that God has made all these possible (who else?).  It was once just a dream but now I have been to twenty-plus countries (I have never imagined I would go this huge...wow!) and I'm still counting as there are heaps more places I would like to visit.  The other day, I came across one of my very old journals where I had written: "Wish I could travel the world."  I felt so happy seeing those words again!

I am just so thankful for the countless opportunities that God has been blessing me with to afford me the joys of travel!  ("I'm whistling, laughing, and jumping for joy; I'm singing your song, High God."  -Psalms 9:2, The Message)

And so my travel stories continue...

Fairy Tales

As a little girl, I loved reading fairy tales.  Why not, they always have happy endings!  I'm a happy ending addict.  Even up to now.

In any movie I watch and novel I read, every situation I'm in, any image I paint and story I write, I want the endings to be happy.  They give me hope.  They give me wings to fly and see the happy side of things.

As I grew out of my little girl fairy stories, I learned that in life not all things have happy endings.  But as I live my life each day, I just try my best to find or create the happy in the things I can control and then leave the rest to God.

It's not always easy but if I learn to just let go, think happy and live one day at a time, then I believe there will be gazillions of happy moments to enjoy and happy endings to keep in my heart.

Happy endings.  What's not to love about them?  So I still read those old fairy tales sometimes (and savour the "and they lived happily ever after" moment haha ü).  And watch sunsets.  Marvel at the stars. And pray.  And breathe...

*********
Serenity Prayer
(Reinhold Niebuhr)

God, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardship as a pathway to peace;
taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it;
trusting that You will make all things right
if I surrender to Your Will;
that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with You forever in the next.
Amen.
